>> THE CENTRE FOR NURSING RESEARCH (CNR)

Charlies believes that high quality research is fundamental to the future of nursing.

As a result of this core belief, the CNR was developed in conjunction with Edith Cowan University and has more recently established partnerships with Curtin University of Technology and the University of Western Australia.

This innovative and unique framework gives our nurses the opportunity to work with experienced academic researchers to advance nursing practice through practical research programs, explore clinical practice issues relevant to nursing and work towards improving outcomes for patients and their families.

With dedicated professionals directing research in three key programs, our objectives at the Centre for Nursing Research include:
  1. The conducting of high-quality research that informs nursing practice and influences policy development.

  2. The fostering of a collaborative model of research that provides leadership opportunities and expertise for nursing staff.

  3. The encouragement of nurses to develop research proposals, conduct research in teams and disseminate research findings

  4. The development of interdisciplinary local, national and international research collaborations

  5. CNR also provides a mentoring framework that supports nurses in their quest for knowledge and skills advancement, and aims to integrate proven research into clinical practice.

  6. By involving nurses in research programs, Charlies provides ongoing education and skills enhancement for staff, quality management of hospital procedures, support, team building and professional development.
